Here at our day spa, we have a lot of customers coming to us from Alpine, Cedar Hills, and Highland for brow waxing, or to have other small areas waxed, such as the upper lip or bikini area. But not as many of our clients come in for leg waxing. We assume this is because getting a leg wax can seem a little bit intimidating if you’ve never had it done before (or if you’ve tried to do it yourself at home with bad results). After all, it’s a much larger area than the brow, lip, or bikini area, and areas of the leg, such as the shins, can be sensitive.
If you’ve never gotten a leg wax before, we want to encourage you to give it a try at SpaVITA. Now that summer is here, it’s the perfect time!
If you’re nervous about leg waxing, read on. In this blog post, we’ll be talking about some of the benefits of leg waxing and answer some frequently asked questions.
Longer Lasting Hair Removal
Some people shave their legs every day in the summer, while others can go a few days in between shaves, but waxing typically lasts about three weeks! If you’re going on a vacation this summer and want to spend more time enjoying your time away and less time in the bathroom, getting a leg wax could be that perfect time saver!
Consistent Waxing Gives You Even Better Results
The more you wax, the more sparse and fine your body hair will become. The same can’t be said for shaving, as everyone who shaved their legs for the first time found out when their hair grew back coarser and darker.
Since waxing involves removing the hair by the roots, the more you do it, the weaker the hair follicles become. You will probably never completely eliminate all of your body hair by waxing, but you should see a noticeable difference in the amount of hair and the texture of your hair after several regular waxing treatments.
Less Inflammation with Waxing
If you are prone to razor burn, waxing could be a great solution for you. Since you have to wax way less frequently than you need to shave to keep unwanted hair at bay, you will be causing less irritation to your skin.
We’re not going to lie—leg waxing does sting, but the temporary discomfort is a minor drawback, considering you don’t have to shave every few days.
What About Hair Removal Creams?
Those who don’t like to shave, or who are intimidated by the thought of getting a leg wax may consider using a topical hair removal cream, like Nair or Veet. People like creams because the results last longer than shaving (although not as long as waxing) and the hair doesn’t grow back as “stubble.”
Unfortunately, hair removal creams are filled with chemicals, some of which can cause adverse skin reactions—especially for those with sensitive skin. They also deliver inconsistent results, which means you may find yourself shaving your legs even after using the product.
Waxes typically don’t contain harsh chemicals and are very safe. However, if you have especially sensitive skin, let Joy know so she can choose the best, most natural wax product for your skin type.
Not Just Waxing—a Day Spa Experience
